Empowerment Space: Reinventing yourself in Germany

Sharing experiences of living and working as a migrant

Linkedin

Host: Nastya Matchanka | Diversity Trainer, Employers for Equality

Date: 27.11.2025

Time: 11:00 – 12:00

Language: English

Location: online

Target group: For all those who immigrated or fled to Germany and have had to navigate work and private life in a new cultural setting (with focus on Germany as a host country)

Content:

Those moving to Germany (just as to any other country) need to adjust to a new cultural setting, language, customs, rules and habits, which can often be challenging. The circumstances of finding yourself in Germany can also be different – free choice for some and a necessity (if not a question of survival) for others.

Irrespective of the circumstances, the original cultural context(s) leave a lasting imprint on our personality and serve as a lens from which we see the “new” country. Especially in the first years this adjustment can be particularly striking and can lead to an emotional rollercoaster.

This empowerment space offers the opportunity for diverse migrant stories to be heard, experiences exchanged and powerful energy created.

This event is for you if:

  • your identity as a migrant often plays a role for you personally, be it in a business or private context
  • you feel that your cultural context is so different from the one you are living in now that it is overwhelming
  • you do not (yet) see your move to Germany a success story and currently struggle to build a life
  • you feel you have mastered the most difficult part of life in a different country and it is comfortable to be where you are

About the format:

Powerful synergies are formed in our Experience Exchanges: Participants learn directly from each other and share practical solutions. Best practices and learnings from other companies are thus made directly usable and help to make one’s own DEI work more targeted and efficient.
